Small businesses often don't have the time, skills or resurces to marketing themselves online. Even if consumers are searching for a product or service that is available down the road, it might be invisible to them - because it is invisible online. Our localised platform will help consumers find what they are looking for, in their own community.
We piloted the Ruban.ie concept with the OurTown Passport scheme in Wexford – advertising local businesses in the local community. The feedback from businesses and users was hugely positive. The concept gripped people’s imagination - Local and National media picked up the story, and businesses in other towns contacted us about extending OUR Town to THEIR Town. Clearly, there was a gap in the consumer market for RUBAN.
There was also big opportunity for businesses to reach their customers through a localised ONLINE channel. By evolving the OUR Town concept to a slick online platform, we could distribute it easily, and we could also offer many businesses a cost-effective digital sales channel for the first time. With 88% of Irish consumers researching products online, and €850K being spent by us online EVERY HOUR, there’s massive revenue out there which Irish businesses can’t ignore.
Business will pay an annual fee of just €200pa or a monthly subscription fee of €20pm. Once registered, they feed updates and special offers onto their own webpage on the Ruban platform, through a custom dashboard that also shows them their activity on the platform. They can even link RUBAN offers to their social media pages and websites. Our notifications system will "push" those offers to local customers in real time, so that the target audience will know what’s available, and where they can find it locally.
Ruban launched to rave reviews in early April, in Wexford. Bobby Kerr has pronounced it to be a pivotal program for businesses in rural Ireland, and we look forward to growing alongside our business partners as we extend Ruban.ie into new counties starting in April 2018.
